Cream Legbar Baby Saved!

Hi all! I’m a new chicken mama...the oldest are 12 weeks old! I just had to share a success story with you all, because losing baby chicks to sickness can be heartbreaking! Last week I received 2 cream legbar, 2 golden cuckoo Marans, and 2 barred rock day old chicks. Both of the barred rocks got sick and died! I tried to give them sugar water, but nothing worked! When the other 4 started showing signs of sickness, especially my favorite legbar, Arwen, I made a paste of food, corid, and brown sugar water. I am happy to say that Arwen is back to her perky sweet self, and all 4 seem to be doing great! Here’re pics of my son feeding them the paste! So glad it worked!!! Good to know that medicated feed doesn’t always keep them from needing antibiotics!!!

My son, JJ, wants me to add that when he needs to make more paste they try to jump out of the cage to get it as quickly as possible. Cute babies!
