Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Wow! I have read a good portion of this 122 page thread...very informative. And then I get a swimming effect going on in my head with all the knowledge! I have 2 CCL roosters (well cockerels, really). When they reach maturity, if I cross them with my hens (BBS Marans, BBS Ameraucana, Buff Orpington, Jubilee Orpington, Barnevelder, Welsummer, Gold-laced Wyandotte, BBS Isbar) could any of them be sex-linked? Auto-sexing? I believe, if I'm reading the information correctly, the Welsummer and GLW should be. I really don't even know why I'm asking. I guess I am a sucker for a science experiment.

No . By using a barred male with 2 barring genes all chicks will be barred . Not sexable at hatch as the males will be single barred . For sex links you need barred hens and a non barred male .

This is correct. However you can cross your Cream Legbar rooster with a silver based hen to get Sexlinks, sexable by down color at hatch.

Oh yes I know. I thought we were discussing Feather sexlinks. I do know that there are also sexlink by leg/skin color.

That stuff amazes me. I know you can do it with Silkies. The person posting said that you can cross CLs which have yellow shanks with a green? shanked breed and then the boys would have one color and the girls would have another.

I do not know about that--and think it would

Here are some new chicks . Hoping for a double barred cockerel in this hatch . A broody is raising them . Sorry but no legbar in the mix yet as I just recently got my legbar trio .

Hi guys :)

Just wanted to post something fun I made with my Cream Legbars.

Candy Corn Easter Eggers

Hoping I can improve the markings with the next generation but so far these are a big hit with my customers!
