Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Curious, what did your Bielefelder roo x CL hens eggs look like?

The eggs were large olive colored eggs. The hens turned out slightly bigger than the cream legbar hens. Not near the size of the bielefelder hens.

I ate all the roos from that cross but 1. He is my yard rooster and spoiled rotten rascal.

Legbar rooster over Barred Rock hen. I'm hatching some eggs from this cross.

I think the answer must be in this thread, but I haven't found it :)

Will there be any sexing opportunities with these chicks?

Much thanks.

Yes . Since black will dominate in this cross the head spot is your way to tell . Pure for barring on both side . Males will have larger irregular head spot . The barred rock method of sexing .

I have the cutest cross Legbar x Black Copper Marans, the offspring has a large crest, light barring AND feathered feet! I do this cross a lot and the results are "Olive Eggers" However getting the crest and the feathered legs is something I have only accomplished once! I would love to see what would happen on the f2s. Such a shortage of breeding pens. :)

@Junibutt. What do you plan to do with your CL hybrid cockerals? I currently have 9 10 week old cockerals from the Easter HAL and I'm trying to decide who to keep and who to let go. Sadly I can't keep them all and my 1 adult roo too.

My plan is to process the extra cockerels. CCL hybrids should have a good amount of meat on them.
