Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

No he is the only one that the dog missed. I came home to find him in the bramble patch hollering his fool head off. He is the only chick that survived that hatched. I wasn't even planning on keeping the roosters, only the hens for their eggs. Do you have a picture of what the rooster looks like?
its in this thread somewhere, let me see if I can find my posts.

Another Roo from our birds a bit older image....
some have had white lobes some red some cream the majority are nicely crested in both sexes.

eggs vary from this shade of green to a typical light blue CCL
(they are greener at first then become lighter blue as age)

Eggs from BR are Jumbos that I hatch from.
This was when the BR first started laying big eggs, I am certain they weigh more now, need to scale them and compare to the cross eggs when they get out of pullet sizes.
And color chart the new eggs when I find one.

@Sally Sunshine I love your CL x BPR, they are so lovely.

I have recently have discovered a new love for BPR, so Im liking your cross, the way they look as well as how you describe the personality.

Darn, I missed the pictures! I thought maybe they would look like a Legbar hen.

Do your hens lay blue eggs? Am I right to think my rooster is carrying at least one blue shell gene?

I have done the cross with rose combed brown leghorn hens and show style brown leghorns and the color was always the same. The eggs are super light blue for the most part- they almost look white when you see them alone.

Well, here she is. I liked the idea of the black being replaced with Lavender and I really don't like messing with the "blue" gene (I like the blues and splashes but not the black ones so much). Maybe I should be happy that she's laced, has a rose comb, crest, and hopefully lay a green egg. That being said, if I don't breed her to a Lavender Orpington what would make the best father to get chicks more like this...a Cream Legbar or a Blue Laced Red Wyandotte? I probably will try the Lavender Orpington first just to see what the Lavender Laced "Tan" would look like. Maybe the tan won't be too light for my liking. Then I can just line breed until I get some birds with all the traits that I want as well as two copies of the blue egg gene (hopefully she has at least one).

Hi, I have a lavender Am. rooster. He has mixed offspring that are split for lavender, including some with red lacing reversed from your pullet (red around black centers); it is mostly on their breast feathers. I have a project in mind for them, similar to yours =)

And so far I have pretty blue/green eggs, waiting to see what color the next gen lays.

Hi, here's a CL mixed cockerel that I really like (read: I don't have room for another Roo but I think I'm keeping him anyways). It's not best pic and it doesn't really convey how shiny his feathers are.

He comes from two different CL mixes.
The rooster was from an OE x Light Brahma; the OE was from a Crele Penedesenca x CL.
The hen was from a CL roosters xmisc.black hen.

I guess I may as well add his sisters, such diversity.

hmm, I am having trouble submitting the pics, will try back later.
