Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

How old are they now?  I have some chicks that are supposed to be legbar crosses but none have a crest.  What age should the crest be apparent?  

The pic was at about 3 weeks old. The crests seem to be coming in with their feathers, I didn't notice it when they just had chick down. 4/5 seem to have crests, the lastt one might but is feathering in much slower.

They are EE . Some Legbar in the mix . Past the first generation .

Neat looking birds. Do the hens mostly lay green eggs or were you able to keep them blue?

Mostly blue to blue green . One lays a light olive .

I have hatched my first ever chicks. All but one of them is a Legbar rooster over a beige colored Easter Egger. Interesting genetics going on, because half of the chicks are yellow and half are chipmunk striped. I don't really expect there would be any autosexing genes from the EE mom. They all have pretty distinct striping but only one of them has a spot on it's head. And the lighter colored striped chicks don't have much eyeliner. Probably because whatever makes them lighter also lightened up the eyeliner too.

The yellow half of the chicks are pretty much just yellow, with a little bit darker yellow around the heads. I can't see any striping on them. One has three little black specks on its back though.

(The oddball is the blue one in the middle. I thought I was setting a Black Langshan egg, but it must have really been from one of my Blue Splash Marans, since it looks blue to me, not black.)

I think it's strange to get the yellow chicks. There must be some recessive genes that are found in Legbars that my EE also has.

Has anyone crossed CCL with Salmon Faverolles ? I have several hens with my CCL cocks now and will be putting some in the bator next week.

I candled 4 CCL eggs last night. All 4 are developing. The possible roos are an Ameraucana and a Brabanter. I'll post pictures in April if they hatch.
