Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Hi all! Just wanted to share some of our clb hybrids we decided to hatch. So far weve hatched a 1 sapphire, 2 ice cream bars, 1 of what we like to call an "ameraucan cream", 1 Sage egger (clb/welsummer), and our little Easter Bonnet (clb/ (polish/australorp cross))

I have some Cream legbar roo X red and black sexlinks. is there any way to sex them at this age, with the Autosexing trait? here are my outcomes: (I'm not sure what eggs they came from) (some of the white/yellow chickens have faint red stripes)

Hello, long time reader, first time poster....anyway, here is my legbar hybrid. Ayam Cemani (green fire farms) over Cream Legbar (Ree's line) hens. They turned out beautiful (to me anyhow). As far as I can tell there should be some sexlink action with this combo, right? My pullets are all black like their dad but are crested like mom. Black skin, combs, eyes, tounge, etc. The cockrels are barred and crested with neat penciling and black\white coloration (very formal lol). The boys had a dot on their heads and black down at hatch with a chipmunk pattern. The girls were all black at hatch.

It does seem sex linked . I wonder if sex linked silver is in some of the Legbars .

No there isn't any Sex-Linked silver in the Legbars. Silver is a Dominant gene so if it is there you will know. There were some of the folks that like to still around and debate genetics that started accusing the Cream Legbar breeders of having crosses with silver rather than a true cream gene. I know of at least two of the Cream Legbar Breeders that test mated their Cream Legbars to test for Silver and both of them confirmed they there was so Silver in there line but that their birds were in dead the recessive gold base with the recessive Cream Dilutor.

The sex linked Gene that Autosexing is based on is the sex-linked barring. When a Black male is crossed with a Barred female all the males come out with barring (indicated by the white spot on the head) and all the females come out non-barred.

What would you expect to see from a blue Orpington rooster over a Cream Legbar hen? I have five chicks that hatched a couple of weeks ago and three hatched from blue/green eggs. Those eggs could be from a Cream Legbar, blue/splash Ameraucana, or EE (1 red, 2 wild type pattern). Of the three chicks, only one has a pea comb.

My understanding (trying to research since they hatched) is that the blue Orpington crossed with a Cream Legbar hen would produce black sex-links due to the hen's extended black and barring genes (correct me if I misunderstood). I have one nearly solid black chick that I know hatched from a blue/green egg, and I assume is a black sex-link pullet. It's the other single comb chick that has me wondering - the chick was dark grey and had a small head spot when hatched; I can't remember what color egg. However, this chick has feathered out faster that any of the 5 chicks so far, and I thought the feathers would come in barred, but they are black. What would you expect a cockerel chick from this cross to look like? I know it's a waiting game to find out for sure, but it's fun to speculate :)

From the blue orpington side I'd expect either blue or black chicks. From the legbar hen side is expect either blue or black since that from the male will be dominate.
Would also expect sex linked. Pullets solid and cockerels barred. Would be single comb so your correct on that.
Would also be looking for a partial crest. IDK how your hen is as far as a crest but a chick with a partial crest would be a giveaway to it coming from the legbar.
A barred chick would also have to have came from her.

Thank you for the info! It will be interesting to see how they develop!

Edited to add that the hen is actually my avatar at the moment. Her crest was more visible until her comb grew in.

Hi! Can you help me figure out if this chick is male or female, or let me know if it just can't be sexed at this time? It is from a Olandsk Dwarf rooster over a Cream Legbar hen. I thought I'd be able to tell on Day One from a cream spot on the head, but the chickie is all cream! Except for a bit of rust on the nape... IMG_6166.JPG
