Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Yes, we have been calling this cross Amelias which is kind of a sweet story. I gave Ron and several other people eggs last year when I first launched the project.

The name Amelia came about when I accidentally sold what I thought was a Cream Legbar pullet to a customer and it turned out to be a Crele Pene X Cream Legbar cross. I have since learned not to hatch them togehter because they can be very difficult to tell apart, especially the ones that hatch with yellow legs.

Long story short, this customer named that bird Amelia because she was an excellent flyer. Sadly, Amelia was taken by a predator and somehow, I think in her memory, we all started calling the Cream Legbar X Crele Penedesenca Crosses Amelias.

That is very sweet, good story. And a great way for a name to be created.

I wonder what lavender would do to ccl. If i breed lavender in would it turn the whole bird lavender. It would have to right. Would be cool if lavender replaced the grey and black. Or the cream areas
I have thought about this. I know there are isabelle? (light brown leghorns with lavender) that would work to breed to a legbar rooster and go from there

Thanks for proving my genetic point... the eb e allele is "THE" most Recessive e allele out there, its recessive to wildtype e+ and such a cross would produce CCL looking chicks.

Just would like the info for future when I do the Cemani x CCL cross.

the Cemani with black sking/bones are sex linked id+ and Fibromelanotic this combo makes them all black bones, now if you add the sex linked dominant gene Id(turns slate shanks into white shanks, and willow shanks into yellow shanks) to Fm the birds will lose their black skin and infact have yellow/white skin.....

so if you cross a cenami rooster(id+/id+) with a CCL Hen(Id/- only one copy of its sex linked gene because they only have one Z sex chromosome) this cross will results in Females inheriting their fathers id+ and Fm gene therefor making them all Black... none barred becaue their CCL cant pass its sex linked barring gene to them...

as for males.. they will be Id/id+(one copy of fathers id+ and one copy of mothers Id gene) and Fm/fm+ making their skin white/yellow and Barred due to inheriting their mothers sex linked gene

Quote: Rons cross of a crele penedesenca too and crele penedesenca x cream legbar cross looks like there where brown chicks and some chipmunk if he chimes in maybe he can post a pic

I did just hatch some F1 CCL X Crele Penedesencas(we call the Amelias here since they like to fly and roost on high places) back to a Crele Penedesenca Cockerel. When I hatched the chicks from @juststruttin , I only hatched pullets. The Crele Penedesenca is one of two that I hatched last year from @Hangtown Farms 's flock.

These are the F2s from Yesterday. I will take pictures weakly so that you can see what I get. To me, they look like Crele Penedesenca type auto sexing.

I have since learned not to hatch the purebred Cream Legbars and CCL X Penedesencas together because they can be very difficult to tell apart, especially the ones that hatch with yellow legs.

It is a great Story and we have been working on getting folks on the OE thread interested in them. They lay over 70G sized eggs and are very healthy. Feed conversion is very good for them and they lay like crazy!

I hatched 7 pullets for the f1. Since Laura lost her Amelia, she took two from my pullets so she has two of them now. They went Broody in the Fall and hatched out chicks too!

They look like the two chicks are mixed up with features of both to me . I think the more solid grayish brown are boys and the ones with slight chipmunk girls. ? There is a definite difference on 2. Patterns
