Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

The Only Difference would be, the Cuckoo have E/E Extended Black and Golden cuckoos have ER/ER Birchen
maybe the french silver cuckoo marans would be the best then. They should be sex link olive eggers or no. This is tbe pick from the hatchery im going to get them from

They look bigger than CLs normally look.

Do you have a guess on if the Cockerels will be good meat producers? Ron

That is what I am wondering also.

Yes, the roos are bigger. I had 5, I killed and ate the oldest 4. I kept the youngest 1 for an emergency backup. If my CL roo died, maybe the cross would carry the blue egg gene.

I took these 2 pictures this morning.

Yes again, the CL cross pullets are bigger than my 2 CL hens.

If you search for posts by me in this thread, you can see pics of the CL cross roos. I will get a picture or 2 of the 1 I kept and edit this reply and post it.

Thanks texas75563, Just as I hoped for and expected. What age did you process them at? We are hoping to sell hens from this cross and will most likely be eating the roo,s.

JDXX, I killed them between 4 and 5 months old, which was too soon! I had too many roosters and needed the space. The ones at 4 months dressed out about 2 1/2 pounds. The ones at 5 months a little over 3 pounds.

It is getting time to kill some roosters again.

So its been 30 years since I processed a chicken. Lived on a farm once upon a time. How do they taste at those ages? We are raising out about 20 cross roosters for meat currently and thought I had to kill them sooner so they were not to roostery. I really have no idea what to expect yet.

I crossed my CCL hen with a barred frizzled crested OE roo. I got about half pure white chicks and half orange/gray barred chicks. They are all grown up now and just started laying big light olive green eggs :)

here is my favorite hen. She has a wicked beard and crest!

here is one that got no beard or crest:

and here is one of the white hens all grown up:

They all lay a pretty similar color of light olive green egg. Here are a few next to their mom's CCL egg on the far left (2 weeks in to laying and their eggs are already bigger than hers!)
