Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

Yes the cockerels have two barring genes . The rooster is one of the 2 cockerels . Hens were barred or crele EE . The red shoulders are autosomal red I thought . Trying to figure out what is diluting the color . One reply said it was 2 barring genes doing this . I have one that is crele with 2 barring genes . Crele breeds true with 2 barring genes .

Yes autosomal red on the shoulders and/or chestnut. I should have been more specific - to look for the gold barring on the primary and secondary wing feathers.

I don't say much but do follow along as I'm planning Black Marans x CL Pullets for sexable green egg layers. I agree with Steen. In the past I have found their posts to be arrogant and rudely worded.  I have blocked them for this reason and enjoy reading the threads more without their input.

So if you breed a bcm roo to a cream legbar roo you get sexable chicks? How do you tell male from female chicks?

Does anyone have any pics of Austrabar chicks? Cream Legbar roo over Black Australorp hens. I'm wanting to breed some for next years egg layers. Since I will probably hatch these with CL eggs, just wanting to make sure what they look like as chicks. Also wouldn't mind pics of adults if ya'll have any. Thanks!

Why don't you breed Bielefelder over your australorp? The cream legbar is flighty and noisier than Bielefelder. The cream legbar x australorp off spring will produce olive egg.

I don't have Bielefelders, I have Cream Legbars. I don't find mine noisy at all. In fact, they crow much less than my English Orps did. My CL hens aren't near as loud as my Australorps or EE's.

Yes, I actually do have a hen from a ccl roo over a black australorp hen from last year from some random breedings. The one I know of is basically an all black hen with a nice crest. She is a very nice friendly bird, I never sorted out what color eggs she lays for sure, but I think they're green. She has also been in the broody breaker twice, and she is broody again now. I may just give in to her and give her some eggs to hatch, she is persistent. I have to laugh at her, because whenever I walk in the coop she starts screeching, which sounds like some sort of prehistoric creature. lol Most of the time she's just sitting in an empty nest box anyway.

I don't believe she had any markings at all except for the crest, which I couldn't see right away. She also has a very deep voice which stood out from all the other birds. When I started this flock about a year and a half ago I had several different random breeds and a few roosters, so by process of elimination I determined what cross she was. I just hatched a bunch of random eggs from my hen house to test out an incubator that I built. I actually have ccl's hatching right now, about 25 hatching and another 120 eggs cooking in the incubator.
