Cream Legbars

Glad I found this thread! I have a CCL, and love her, but I feel she is nowhere near breed standard. What would be a "perfect" one? Pics are apreciated! She is just starting her first 'grownup'molt, as we hit winter before she lost her juvenile feathers last year.

Is it possible she is crossed with something, Her legs look the wrong color and she has no crest at all. Which is a dis-qualifier.

Also the duckwing looks funny. I cannot tell for sure in the picture..

Of course the perfect legbar is white...

She has a lot of melanization (too much dark lacing) on her breast feathers. Her crest is too small(she has one, right?) Nice yellow legs, bright white on the earlobes, good soft Barring on underfluff. Hard to see, is her tail wry or just standing wierd? I like how her wings are nicely tucked and her carriage in picture 2, except the (wry?) tail and too small crest.

She had just gotten done with a dust bath, so she was in the middle of shaking off. She has a bit of a crest, which seems to be getting bigger as she molts, and I am hoping her feathers come in lighter. We got cold quick here, and she never hit her adult molt untill now.

I saw green I thought on the legs in the second picture...

Chickens can change alot with each molt. Beautiful girl you have there :) One of my Legbars had little to no crest all summer and fall and now this spring I mistook her for her sister with the big crest so I think shes just taking her time like mine

Sometimes having a bird that isnt close to the standard is great. I actually happen to love my CL that I got and they have a few minor color flaws. They are unique in their own way!

Please do not think I don't like her, am just seeing things that I would not want to use her for a foundation breeder for,,

ALso that white primary is not good...

I rip my own birds too,,LOL

I saw shade and bad lighting of the legs

But that's alright. I could see from the top picture she had the yellow. Her feathers may change, but she probably won't get much lighter. Color can be tricky if you aren't a white breeder like Ralphie.

here is the one who has my favorite crest, but her wattles are terrible, my Lorelei. She is also heavily melanized, but I love her crest and shape. She also lacks white earlobes, but she is paired with a male who has excellent wattles and long white earlobes to make up for it.

LOL Color is a female Dog in heat to get right.

I just went through a ton of chicks tonight , keeping the ones that have a chance and getting ready to get rid of the others.

I followed Dean's advice and went for size, I like the size on the Roosters this year and the color on two of them. The third is off (too gold) but he has other things I like,

I am actually thinking of bringing my show bird from last fall in for a couple batches of chicks and see how he does.

Bantam I saw the yellow in the first picture and thought that was the back of the legs and the front had the green..BUT we all know how hard color details are to get in pictures.

Here is the one showed last fall, but his saddle feathers are too gold for my liking. Also too much gold on the back of the neck,,And of course he is winter trimmed.

I like his barring and it is good on the lower leg, which the camera does not get well and he has the right size and not bad ear lobes.

With the right hen I might get a decent chick..Or not.

At least I showed one you guys can rip now....lol

Your bird is what I had been hoping for! I wanted one with a floofy hat that laid sky blue eggs. Mine lays nice light blue eggs, but I feel like she stopped physically at 14 weeks. She is so small compared to the other hens. This is her being held by the 3 year old at the barn.
