Cream Legbars

View attachment 1081019 I would really like to breed these two, what are your thoughts? The eggs were given to me so I have no idea what my results would be. But possibly they are brother and sister. Is that ok to breed if they are?

How old is the cockerel? I like the color, it appears a little young for the gold/creole color to come out. The comb looks nice and straight, give it time it will get the curvy bends :)lau:lau:lau:lau)

I like the hen, except for the dark crest. That is a personal thing and I see nothing in the SOP's yet about that.

I think mating these two is a wise choice. The lighter color of the male should help with the darkness and red on the female.

Make sure to show pictures of babies.

Thanks for your input, they both hatched March 20th of this year,. I think he is very handsome. Yes he has more gold/ creole as you said. I am anxious for her to start laying. I know I have a couple months yet.

Thank you for your critique, I will definitely post more pictures in a couple months as they really are still young. The pictures that I'd posted of the girls were awful since they had already headed to the roost for the night so I went out and took a couple more today. They still weren't overly cooperative though.

I like their tail set. I hope they stay down. Mine end up turning up as they get older. Also the color on number 2 is interesting. If you could get more pictures of the hackles and saddle feathers I would appreciate it.

At the very least I would breed that one. Depending on how it matures I might even show it. Not sure whether to call it a cream or Creole though..Interesting as I said.

I think number 2 is pretty cream. Number one looks a lot like mine, color wise. Mine typically have slightly smaller Combs and bigger crests, but otherwise, very similar. I like the tail set too, and those earlobes! Love the earliest on one.
Number two needs to grow up a bit more. Hope that spiky crest smooths out!

I am so sad, just went out and cleaned the coop and fresh water and food, noticed my one Cream leg bar rooster just kinda standing there and noticed one eye was shut and when. I looked closer I don't think there is an eye, do you think one of the other chickens did that? I have never seen any of my Roosters really fighting, I do have a silkie rooster that can be mean, he is trying to woo all the girls, wondering what could had happened, he was not one I had picked for breeding purposes but geez, I still wouldn't want him to lose an eye.

I'm so sorry, one of my cream leg bars (Frankie) didn't have an eye
