Cream Legbars

For those of you wondering, the reason I asked was because these items were discussed at the last board meeting. I was wondering what others thought..

Thanks..

Now I a going to show you my breeding rooster from this spring. This guy was the one I saved from freezer camp the day before the rest jumped on the camp bus..

Many of you will wonder what I saw in this piece of crap bird......

I saw the color, and a back line I could use along with nice white ear lobes. I had a few hens I thought he might throw some decent chicks with....So I kept him and bred him...

Pretty ragged bird, he has one bad eye, (rooster fight gone awry). He has a slight bulb on a toe he ripped backwards in another rooster fight.. He actually had a decent comb, but here in the northland they get winter trimmed.....

Now this is one of his Sons. I am leaning towards showing this guy. I have 3 more months before my first show, so keep that in mind. I have about a dozen that look similar to him and one of them might pass hm between and and Oct 27. I have not bathed him or touched him yet. I have put him in a cage for cage training is all..

Now imagine him trimmed. polished bathed and shined up...I think nice bird..BUT I will not be hurt if you tear him apart.

The pictures do not do justice to his long back line. They never seem to IMHO...

He has a scab on hs comb,,Lie his Dad he does not back down from a fight...:lau

PS, I know he has a real small crest...I am praying it does not shrink!

I have a question for you Cream Legbar lovers.....

I have been looking at mine. it was brought up recently somewhere else about the color of the crests on the girls and the beak color.

Do you think the crest should match another part of the bird, hackles, saddle feathers, under belly or what?

Do you think a dark crest should be allowed (almost black)..? Or a lighter crest?

I have been looking at mine since this was brought up, not the show girls but all of mine to see what I think. To be honest, I just can't decide which look I like better...

Also What do you think about the beak color? If it goes to a "bone" color should that be allowed?

On that one I have an opinion!!! (SURPRISE---SURPRISE---SURPRISE)..... I think the yellow should be the preferred and the SOP, not the bone. I have one with the bone color in it and it just is not as good looking to me as the yellow.

Just wondering what others think,,,Thanks

Hi All, in the UK we go for Crest same as Hackles, cream / grey (some chestnut allowed).
Beak same as legs, yellow.

Some very nice birds on here :thumbsup

Obviously, You do not mean my Daddy Rooster above.....:lau Roosters that fight seldom stay good looking for long...BTW He has a great personality with me and his girls. He just seems to PO the other roosters by existing...

Seems to be a theme with your males. Eli has no tail because everyone pulls it out as soon as it grows. He also talks non-stop, a whiney baaaaaawk bawk bawk, inquisitive into everyone business, they pull out half his feathers for it.

But they tend to look pretty!! Everyone hates the pretty boys!

I got approval for a qualifying show from the Minnesota Poultry People at the Oct show. They were happy to have us!

I still need to find out who the judge is and what they will disqualify for. I explained the winter dubbing and how I think it is just points lost and not a disqualifier.

The guy running the show agrees with me!

I should have a table set up for us too!

Does this mean my cocks are in? I will have some others I'll bring. I'm not driving from Montana with one or two birds, that would be silly;D
