Yes, she may not show a crest until she gets her first set of adult feathers. She may not have a very big crest.

Here is my 4 week old cream legbar chick. She still doesn't have a crest... is this normal?

Crest will come in with head feathers....if I recall correctly.

If you look closely at the picture you posted the black tuff seems to be there but very small. I am guessing that one will be gold/Crele and not cream.

I am sorry, yours is cream best I can tell from the charcoal grey crest and light hackles. But it is hard to tell on young birds.

if you look closely at the profile picture the black tuff on the top of the head looks slightly tossled and higher than the other fluff.

Lol I'm keeping this one. Something always seems to happen to my girls with the lighter crests. I'm guarding this pullet this time.

My cream legbar is the smallest of our flock at 8 weeks. I'd say she's somewhere in between those two.

Thanks. I might never know the "reason," but the difference is pretty dramatic and they should be the same age, same size. They're supposed to both be CCL. From local freed store, from hatchery and looked same size when I brought them home but at about 2 weeks I could see a difference. She seems to be healthy.... Runt? Or not really same age? OR bantam CCL got in wrong bin ??
