Cream Legbars

Hatching is so addictive!

Call me too keen but this is day 2 of stylax the stud muffins release into a myriad of hens. No mating action on egg cam so far. . . When should i expect to see the oh so anticipated? Im going to check eggs for fertility today even though i know im going to be dissapointed.

congrats on the fertile eggs....when are you going to set eggs for hatching? have you already? ;O)

Your cockerel looks very young based on the size of his wattles -- how old did you say he is? Of course you need to keep us posted on your and his progress.

ETA love the idea of the camera in the coop.

I love the egg cam it moves i can take pics and record, even tell them to shut up in the morning from my phone. Its a foscam for ref.

You agree at least one there is fertile?

Ill set them when im absaloutely sure, and ive had my quail hatch on sat.

He is 20 - 21 weeks info provided by Durham hens

I have lost all my CL eggs. Next hatch is set for May1st.

I think my still air hatcher cooked them. I am getting a fan for it before the next eggs go in. I am also getting more thermometers so I can monitor the temps through each vent hole.

I think you are right on the fertile eggs Nadrojacks. BUT I am not real good at telling that when I look at them.((( edited in.. As I look again at the picturesI think one of them you have labeled not fertile I fertile.) BUT I am not an expert.

Mine have been fertile I had one that started and stopped, 2 non-starters and 4 that were full term, I think, until the hatcher cooked them. I found the hatcher was 104 in one end and 99.5 in the other without the fan...Disappointing I was monitoring the wrong vent hole,, stoooooopid me!

I am sorry to hear that duluthralphie. So disappointing! This whole incubation thing is a little nerve wracking. I had an early hatch and I assume it was because my incubator is running a bit hot. I have also found that even with the fan I am measuring 99.5 right under the fan and at times 102 in the outside corners. I tried to rotate them when I candled them to even it out a little.

Hope you are able to get things sorted and have better luck next time.

Nadrojsack, I have a hard time telling fertile from non fertile in pictures. I think it is because of the glare. It does look like the center egg might be fertile. The other two don't look fertile to me but like I said I struggle with pictures sometimes.

Broody update! I can't see a thing lol. Well, not entirely true as there is the top zipped portion of a shell that is off to the side. So there must be at least one that has hatched. She is stuck tight to the nest and is making really sweet noises. I am trying to be patient.
