Cream Legbars

Nice run Steen.... are those cattle panels and what we call around here T-posts?  What is the height?  I think here for fencing we usually use 4' T-posts.  Do you have hardware cloth along the bottom? or all the way to the top.

I'm in need of a new --big and safe run...so this is really interesting to me.

Additional question: is there a barrier below ground as well? If so, how did you construct it?

That is a very nice set up. I like the roofing on the pen itself also. May have to try to copy that in the long term - would be wonderful on days like today...but would need a greater slope for the snow here I think.... but maybe would also mean less shoveling inside the pen during winter. Something for me to think about. We have coyotes also, seen them crossing my driveway or out by the pond a few times but so far they've stayed away from the birds....well as far as I know. I have not had any issues with anything digging underneath the walls so far but will have to think about that too.

I brought home a trio of cream legbars yesterday. I never expected to find any for sale locally (that I could afford) so was really pleased to find them. I didn't get any pics of the cockerel but here are the 2 pullets, they are about 13 weeks old, from Greenfire Farms.

I definitely have a lot to learn about the breed, but I am loving these 3 already!

Does anybody know how long shipped clb eggs will hatch? Today is day 21 and I opened up the incubator (no glass to view) and only a buff orp hatched. I closed it up quickly of course. I saw some clbs in person from shallow brook farm and want some so bad. I will be quite upset if those expensive eggs don't hatch!!!

Just thought I'd say a good word for USPS- I know I certainly do my share of griping about them and eggs- but the eggs I dropped off about 11 AM Monday morning were delivered around noon on Tuesday from Oklahoma all the way to Hawaii! THAT'S impressive! Now to hope they didn't get too shaken up on the journey...

You clearly got the best luck of USPS this week. We sent a package Monday to Missouri (a state that BORDERS Tennessee!) and it didn't turn up until today.

I've had them hatch a day or two late. Give them a couple of days :)

@Kahlua: Congratulations on your first Cream Legbars! They're so easy to love!

I finally got my CL eggs in the mail, sent on Saturday, arrived late Wed.......had written all over on the box, "leave at PO, call for pickup".....so they stuffed it in my mailbox -sideways and as a bonus looks like a shoeprint on one edge with the corner smashed and several cracked eggs.
