post number 58. Only problem is only 2 turned out to be crested cream legbars. 2 females and the 1 male turned out to be rhodebars. I culled the 2 females early due to being red and non crested. At the time I didn't know or realize they were rhodebars. These were 3 weeks older than my rhodebar chicks. It wasn't until my rhodebars got older that I realized what the other 2 were.
1 of my crested cream legbar pullets died about month and half ago. My remaining hen has been broody last 2 weeks. A few problems with that. She is sitting on other hens eggs. She isn't laying. When she gets off nest to eat or drink, if another hen gets on that nest to lay, she finds another nest with eggs to sit on. Now I find out she doen't have a mate.
It's been 7 months since I bought these. I did let seller know what was going on 4 or 5 days ago. He wanted a picture of my rooster. He agreed it was a rhodebar. I'm obviously naive! If someone pointed out a mistake like that to me, I would try and make it right. Yes, 7 months has passed!! I should of said something after 3 or 4 weeks when I got rid of the 2 pullets. I should of paid better
attention to the breed and what both genders I should of looked like. Wasn't until recently that I saw on here that the roosters had white earlobes and mine didn't
George has been such a good rooster, he could have been a mutt and I wouldn't had cared. It is very sad for breeding purposes to find out he isn't what he is supposed to be. I killed, boiled, and deboned 2 roosters Monday and Tuesday of this week. I killed 2 more earlier that didn't fit in with my plans. I have 2 more that i need to kill. 1 I definately will. The other I will try to find someone local who needs a good rooster. Good for what I couldn't tell you. He is my next to favorite rooster after george. His name is My Little Buddy. He aint so little any more. He used to ride around on my shoulder or arm. He wouldn't jump off. Unfortunately, he doesn't fit in with my plans.
