Cream Legbars

I really like the first one. I wonder if this is what the wing Bay should look like. At first I thought Jills was correct with a solid white wing Bay but I'm not so sure that's correct. I like the way his bay looks barred

I like how 'clean' he is when it comes to the wing bay and overall lack of chestnut. I do like the overall barred look and how the barring is showing in the secondary feathers also also. Just not sure on this dark barring but we'll see what happens this spring.

My females have their own issues. I have 2 with black bars on their breasts - one is really bad but overall I am happy with them as a total flock. I gave them a bit of a look-see today and took some photos. I l have about 16 - 18 cream girls to work with depending on what I decide to use. The 4 gold girls will start my layer flock and free range.

This girls has some black barring

This is the pullet with the worst of the black barring on the breast

So looking forward to hatching this spring.

I didn't know that extension cords could even go bad, except by being run over by a lawnmower. :-(
Hugs.

Haha that would do it. This cord is a "homemade" one with two plug ends and heavy duty wiring from Lowe's. It is a long way to the shed where I keep my brooders and until we sell the other house we can't afford to run electric out there. I assume a neighbor's cat or dog came through the yard and tripped on the cord making it come loose from the socket just enough to cut power. We don't have any fencing of significance except the electric fence around the chickens. I could see the light in the shed window when I got the kids up at 6 AM. I usually take care of chicks first but had other things on my plate and started with the older birds today. I don't know if it would have saved anyone if I had done chicks first, it would have only made a difference of about 30 minutes. It has come loose before but never when I had little chicks in it, these guys are 3 days old and 2 weeks old so they just couldn't take no heat for a few hours.

Sorry for the loss, it always hurts.
