The pictures are a couple of weeks old.
The pullet is starting to get salmon chest feathers and the cockerel is starting to develop creamy looking saddle feathers (which actually look different than the current body color).
Thanks sol2go. I did mistype and actually meant homo. I think I am confusing red enhancements and chestnut and gold. That may just take me a while to sort out. So I think what I know now is that a bird that is homozygous for cream can still have red enhancements but no gold or chestnut. I am just not sure I know what the difference looks like.Did you get your answer to the highlighted items above?
I thought you may have meant homozygous for cream? In which case the wing triangle is barred and does not show gold or any other color (it shows gold when not double for cream - as I understand it)
Yay for mating! Lol. My pullets (not Rees) are still not laying at 27 and 24 weeks. I think the early, very cold temps and snow we have received has wrecked my chance at eggs for the time being. Even my other hens have stopped laying.Sorry to stray off topic, but Im excited lol. My Rees birds are mating, I hope eggs are soon to follow.![]()
not whithout homozygous Barring... thats why the Welbar was created, to make an autosexing welsummerThey would be auto-sexing at any rate, so that counts for something.
Chestnut = is just an expression of Red enhancers,Thanks sol2go. I did mistype and actually meant homo. I think I am confusing red enhancements and chestnut and gold. These CL are overall a very light gray, I like the look of them but haven't seen anything quite like the pullet. Im looking forward to a photo progression as they mature. Are they siblings from the same mating, do you have pictures of the parent birds?
