Cream Legbars

Aloha,

I was telling Chickat about some lacing action going on in some of my girls and I was wondering if that is really bad or not, especially when it comes to autosexing. The kept moving and my battery died but this is what I got today:
Thanks for any comments.

I don't have the experience to know if it has any effect on auto sexing going into the future but I have one that looks like yours as well and she was easily auto-sexed as a chick. I am not going to use her for making more CL I am probably going to experiment with creating a laced CL in the future. I also have one that has very dark barring with lighter body color and she looks similar in the body to yours but doesn't show the "lacing"on her breast.

I have seen a few legbar hens with lacing like this though never within my flock so I have no personal experience with it. Just my opinion, I wouldn't use any CL that showed lacing in my breeding program. We don't want to see lacing, we want barring so It would make sense to eliminate any showing signs of lacing.

Once you make your Emeralds, you could always use an Emerald male from that cross and pair him to your "laced" CL hen to create offspring with a more complete lacing, eggs should still be blueish green(hopefully more blue) and the offspring would be rose combed.

What were your thoughts for going forward with a laced CL?

edited to add- maybe this is better to be discussed on the CL hybrid thread :)

I'm 99% positive this is a girl but wanted to confirm. In person, her coloring isn't quite as vivid of a brown as some others I've had. And she just hatched , I think her fuzz is just funny still but kinda looked like a teeny spot on her head.
Any input would be appreciated greatly :)

That is exactly my current plan. Once I grow out a male I would like to breed him back to my most heavily laced girl and see how they turn out and if I am still interested in the project at that time

I will go from there. I know there is a hybrid thread so once it is going I can post some updates. I am sure I will have a lot of questions as I go since I am still learning about chicken genetics.

Looks girly to me!

Also, this is my favorite rooster from the great land of Oklahoma:

He is lovely, this is the color scheme I like on CL males though he is lacking barring on his saddle and hackle. I like his full tail and his color nice. He has a nice full body and looks like he is hefty weight wise. If he were mine I would work on trying to get better gray barring in his saddle and hackle areas. Otherwise I think he looks nice:)

Have you looked at his open wing to see the ratio of gray and white and also the barring on it. I am working to get a better barred wing on my male and not such a white wing triangle that I am seeing in my males currently.
