Got an update on my hatch 3 popped out on their own and 1 needed a little help as it was becoming shrink wrapped. 2 didnt make it and the last 2 eggs have shown no progress.

So 4 out of a total of 18 shipped eggs. The lady hatching says they seem to be slow hatchers. Pip and not much happens for a while.

I'm wondering about the hatch rates on these guys. First hatch was 22 eggs 4 survived 1 female.(Known bator problems though and hatch happend 23 or so days). This batch 18 eggs 4 survived
First batch were hand transported. Second batch shipped from several hours away. Second batch no bator problems.

I've heard that others have experienced fairly poor hatch rates. (Under 30%)

I was going to say the same thing! Congrats on your newbies and I am jealous of your blooming shrub. Rhododendron? Though I can't complain too much since we have had such an unusually mild winter.

Yea, my Rhodie began blooming last week on January. We have had a very warm winter, but woke up to freezing temps today. My momma hen hasn't slept with her little guy since their first night here, so he us inside with me this morning, and we are working on training the dog how to behave with chicks
