YAY Broodies!!! Let us know if you let her have eggs. I don't think it is too often we see CL go broody. Id love to hear how she does if you decide to let her.Came home from Easter and my CL was missing from the roosts! Impossible: they've been cooped up for 3 days.... Oh, there she is. In the nest. On some eggs. Growling at me.
My first broody; I have some decisions to make!
X2 Over the years, I have had two CLs go broody -- mother and daughter - they both went the distance. IMO a CL broody is a gem and a good mother-hen too. Good luck with your choice.YAY Broodies!!! Sorry for the loss of your little chick. Good luck with the 7!!I have lost my baby CL. I knew the chances of her living were bad, but I gave it a try.
Hopefully, I will do better on the 2oth. I have 7 that I hope hatch that day.
cute chicks cp - It will be interesting to see them grow.
With the little that I know about both sources - i.e. recessive white and Rees' chicks, I'm not the person to ask - so I hope others with more experience in white and Rees will chime in to answer. Never-the-less that doesn't stop me from speculating that it isn't a recessive white. I'm thinking just a very pale male --- ;O)There are a total of 15 CL chicks hatched now, 2 more zipping and at least 2 more pips that I can see. This hatch is moving slow, we are going into day 23. Im thinking both my incubators might be running a little too cool.
Only 9CL hatched from my original CL flock, and 6 from the Rees flock also the ones pipping and zipping are from the Rees flock. Once hatch is over I will try to get some group pics of each.
Do you think that light chick I posted is a recessive white or just a very pale male?
Hi Deb,OK question for y'all, I'm pretty positive that its my leg bars that are laying not the EE's, but if I hatch them do you think I will be able to tell for sure or would the chicks still look pretty much the same since they would have come from a leg bar male?
