Hmmm that's a tough one...

Feather pattern as of now looks female but the comb looks male.

Im going with male and the barring will likely become more evident over time. Does it have barring on its back feathers? Also is chest feathers seem solid charcoal in the upper pics and the rusty salmon on the outer chest feathers, doesnt seem correct for either sex of this breed. Can you refresh our memory with some day old pics?

Was your source a reliable source? Any chance you got CL mixes? Those don't look like pure CL chicks IMO.

Yeah I would say male and agree about the certainty of them being pure CL.

Here's a couple pics of side by side. Ones chest is a charcoal color and one is more salmon. The person that hatched them said they came from Omega Hills Farm. Someone on here had said they had heard good things about that place. These two do a lot of chest bumping. :/

With them only being 4weeks old, going by the combs they both look male. I have doubts about them being pure CL. If they are pure CL I would in my opinion say they are not being bred well. I personally would not use either of those chicks in a breeding program.

At this point I'll just be happy to get some blue eggs for our egg basket and won't breed them but I'm seriously doubting these are pullets.

I agree with the above -- the combs say male -- the back feathers say female and the chests are ambiguous.

If your source ordered eggs from Omega Hills - and you got hatchlings from those eggs--- then Omega Hills has a messed up Cream Legbar flock IMO. From them I got chicks last summer that were Isbars -- and they were nice healthy chicks -- but did make me wonder a bit if there was a slight outcross there - because their eyes are different from my original Isbars. But then GFF has Isbars with different eyes too...so go figure.

If the person hatched eggs from Omega Hills and bred the resulting chicks when they were old enough -- then hatched and you got some from there -- maybe Omega isn't the source of the problematic chicks. I'm surprised that someone sexed them as females....

Hopefully they will be females with giant combs and lay a ton of blue eggs for your basket. IF not, I think that Omega Hills if they are the hatcher or egg provider, or the person that you bought them from owes you a refund. Sorry you have to go through it all.


Thanks for posting and answering questions about the chicks -- at least lots of people can learn from your experience.

Interestingly, I had two chicks that were a Cream Legbar rooster over Isbar hen -- hence single barred. The visible barring was beautiful but not double -- and it was a really beautiful cockerel - the barring appeared very late -- maybe 10-weeks --

Think you may have one of each at this point the feather patterns are different. Still could be mixes too. The chicks do look different from each other too. Either way I think you should inform the seller and the breeder with pictures maybe the breeder will have insight based on the pics of the birds. Show day olds and now.

congrats, I think boy too, he will have a big head blob -- and he looks like he will be very silvery-gray---- of course you will need to show us other pictures of this one and your others---hope your hatch goes well.
