 those are lovely chicks and great pics you included. You are right that they seemed quite hard to sex. If they were my chicks I likely would have pegged chick one as a female (with a little uncertainty) but chick 2 didn't seem to show the V for the female which is odd so If it were my chick I might have pegged it for a male though it was lacking the head spot (I might have even questioned if it was a mix).

What is you plan as far as using these chicks?

Just a reminder for everyone, It is advised not to breed forward any chicks that don't show good examples of reliable auto sexing down.

I've already culled over half of the birds I started with. I plan to keep culling to get birds closer and closer to the standard and also with reliable autosexing. So, I will be culling these two as well. For those of you wondering, by "culling", I don't mean I kill them all. I just don't use them for breeding in any way.

I would expect them to lay when they reach 26 24 weeks.

awesome thank you! my girl just hit 22 weeks and i'm waiting impatiently to find that blue egg!!! her hatchmate which is a marans just laid her first so that should tide me over until the CL does haha

Congrats on the Marans....let us know the age when your CL produces that first egg. :O)

Will do!!! i was just asking the marans page yesterday when that breed starts to lay and BAM she laid THAT day! so maybe my CL will do the same hahaha
