Cream Legbars

the sickly chick passed away while I was at work.. Poor thing... But I have 10 other chicks that made it healthy, and 7 are pullets!
sorry for your lost -- and as you said -- something was not right. Congratulations on all the nice healthy chicks from your hatch.

Regarding your cockerel -- hope he will keep a straight comb....

I took some pictures yesterday :) Cher and Stormy weren't cooperating but i got a couple pictures of Luna, Sky, and Sunny. Plus some of the babies in the brooder. I'm going to have a LOT of makes to choose from for my breeding program lol

Here's the little 5 week old boy with the "mohawk"-ish thing - along with a pullet (hard to get a photo, they kept getting photo-bombed by German New Hampshires). Please ignore the dirty brooder - there's peat in the bedding (and I hope to move them outside this weekend).

And a couple photos of Joan (though I really can't seem to capture the audaciousness of her crest in these photos.) I thought these were fun because in one, she's being photobombed by two boys with miserable combs, and in the other, a boy in the back is showing off his straight comb... (These will be 12 weeks old this weekend.)

i have heard great things about cream legbars i dont have any but just want to hear about what you guys think about these birds

I think they are wonderful. I can only speak about mine, but their behavior reminds me of having cats - they are not unfriendly, but don't have the "lap chicken" thing going on that some other breeds have (a few of mine have been an exception). Mine lay well, and blue eggs are always appreciated more for some reason (though, yes, they are essentially the same). They forage well, take care of themselves well (know to get under cover before all the rest when a hawk comes) - I think that if all my chickens suddenly had to fend for themselves, the CLs would find it easiest. They are well camouflaged. You can tell boys from girls a hatch (which is AWESOME).

I am not a breeder, I do not and will never show chickens, but they are a great backyard bird. I don't think I'll ever be without some in my yard.
