My Roo is now 7 weeks old and I am remembering the discussion here about the battle between crest and comb for skull space
His comb is starting to swerve left and his crest is all on the right side of the comb, so the comb and crest battle in him is comb left side, crest right side LOL
So...I was raising up some chicks all sexed as females color wise after fluffing up from hatching. One turned out to be male. How weird is that? Has any other breeder ever experienced that? Needless to say, he's not going into the breeder pen lol
In the first picture, it's the one on the right (there's 3 CL in there, the rest are a barnyard mix). The second picture, it's the one on the left (the other one a roo. He's also getting kicked into the bachelors pen as he doesn't have a crest).

It's about 3 1/2 months now. It started crowing yesterday morning and again this morning and when I went to water this afternoon. I say it only because I am confused to its gender lol but it looks like a girl yet it's trying to crow (sounds more like a broken duck quack right now-amuses me!). Guess I'll have to wait another month or two to see if it lays an eggs or not. Pretty bird, and hoping it lays an egg! It also likes to puff up and challenge the no crest roo....he backs down
thought that was weird behavior for a hen to do too but it's always been a sassy lil thing!
My little injured cream legbar (mixed?) chick has made a complete recovery! YAY! Here she (thinking HE now, given the redness of that comb and not even 3 weeks old yet) is standing on both legs again!
