Cream Legbars

I bet that rose combs with the crest are easier than trying to get a straight single comb with a crest. Excited to see how it goes

Here is my older batch hatch , about 5 weeks old now. Check out that comb, so far so good, that curve looks like it might fix itself. Now if he turns out cream, depending on the rest of him, i might have to sell him instead of eating my boys this year.

How is the barring on the back of him? I am finding my lighter boys do not have the distinct barring I would like. They look good as kids but when then start to mature they are kind of fuzzy looking. Looking at the top picture it looks like you might have the same problem. Unless I can get a drunk Judge I doubt they would go far..

It's too late in the evening to get the cockerel again, but here are my current cocks that could be the sire. One is cream( Run) and one is gold(Brother). Brother has a bigger crest and a better type, Run is cream with a better comb and better barring on the tail.

That last one is Run goofing off and posing on my shoulder. He had a chunk of wattle missing from fighting last fall right before butcher time when he had 20 other cockerels to compete with in the juvie pen...

He is a nice bird. Huge Comb! and I see a little crest, all 3 feathers worth..LOL

My only concern would be the squirrel tail. The other ones tail is lower... I think the APA need to rethink the SOPs Squirrel tails are so cool and non-chicken people love them!

I know I told you, you needed safety glasses when wearing a feathered Boa. BUT in this case you need to be covered in plastic down your front!

I might be incorrect but both your cock birds seem similar and somewhat more gold in appearance. I was wondering what indicators are you using to determine cream from gold?

The colors don't always show in pictures so well, but Run is more cream than Brother. These are A and B lines so they will have more chestnut on the wings and crest than Ree's line. It's like fresh pale butter versus old stale butter that's been left out too long. The hackles on the neck are where the Cream shows up on mine the most.

I know the different lines have some different looks, I have had both :) Chestnut is ok to have but what I am noticing on your males is the chestnut coloring running through the entire wing not just the shoulders, to me that is a possible indicator of a bird that is gold or carries gold. Have you ever opened their wings to get a better look?

I should get a close up of Brother, but he is harder to catch when he does not want to be caught. I will open up the wings when I get home from work
