I hatched this spring for a few local buyers and I gotta agree that the chicks are just a little more prone to be weak at hatch. Had a failure to thrive out of 50 hatched this spring and it was a Legbar. Since adding Thorvin kelp to the ration I see less failure to thrive but I may not be putting out enough birds to know for sure. I do know the Marans are usually bigger and more active right off than the Legbars. People love those birds though. I am going to get my NPIP eventually too, someday. Mom used to be the vet for that but there are not enough in Montana for her to keep her lab, so I have to make some calls...
