Thanks for reminding me of our cold winters, I didn't even think of that as I was hoping and wishing for her to grow a big floppy comb, I was just thinking how cute I think those combs are. Yes, we will be better off if her comb stays small.They do grow rapidly, which is one of the reason the barring on the legbar is not as crisp as on other barred birds.
You must likely will not get a huge comb on that bird.
Based on the size of the crest and size of the comb now at 20 weeks, i am betting it will redden as she approaches "chickenhood" and she drops her first egg, but the size wil not change much...
For your area in upstate NY, that is the perfect comb, frostbite will most likely never hit it.
