Cream Legbars

My coop addition in progress for my little group. Their house is made from furniture grade plywood (except for the top) from a pantry cabinet we removed from my kitchen. I figured what better way to repurpose $80/sheet stuff? :lau

Do they tend to grow out and stay lighter or darker, like their chick down?

(sorry, I've wanted CLs since I first got chickens several years ago, and I finally got to a point where I made room for them, so as much as I adore them, I'm still learning the specifics about them)
This group that I hatched out in that picture all grew up to be golden crele, and nearly identical in color patterns. There were other differences, and perhaps the darkest downed male had slightly sharper contrast in his barring.

Fabio's crest has grown back. He may have lots of faults ( wrinkled wattles, frostbitten comb, not quite enough white in his earlobes, ect) that crest is so big, yet not in his face. I feel like he could father spectacular daughters with beautiful crests, but the mother would have to be just the right hen to counter all of his faults.

With him you would need the girls to have smaller crests or they would be overly large. I think.

I like the lack of melanazion ( I know I am not even close on the spelling of that word...The black that sneaks into them so easy)

Lol not hard to find hens with small crests. I suppose I might end up with too big crests on hens, but as long as it doesn't obstruct her vision and it doesn't look wierd, I'll see from there. I've got several hens with smaller crests that have really straight Combs. I have used them to breed straighter combed cockerels, mostly...
But experimenting with larger and smaller crested hens mated with Fabio might yield interesting results.

New here, just got our first Cream Legbar from some hatching eggs under a broody - we wanted to add a few colorful layers to our flock and thankfully one of the few that hatched was a Cream Legbar female (I think!). She is 12 days old now and so tiny, the other chick is a BCM so I don't have any other reference point for the size of a typical Cream Legbar chick - could I post a picture or two here and y'all tell me what you think, or is there a better place to ask? She is eating and drinking well and is very active, just want to be sure I am not missing something. Thanks in advance :)

Congratulations on your new babies! The legbars seem to stay tiny for a very long time. They grow very slowly so don't worry too much :)
