Cream Legbars

I got my set of 4 CCLB's from a breeder near me that told me that they came from the Rees line, and came from blue eggs. The 3 pullet's haven't started laying eggs yet, but the cockerel is already starting to breed my older hens. When I am ready to breed my set of the CCLB's, they will go into a pen by themselves.

The ree's line has lighter down, but I suppose since I've had no cream come from my flock( poor Eli is the Mr right now, so he is my hope for cream later, even if he is a C line. Thanks Ralphie!) After this season, I may breed this generation together for cream, should get 25% creams that way if my flock doesn't have any cream, since Eli is cream. After my move this summer, tracking should be easier since I put an office in my Hatchery over at the new place. Right now, I only have one breeding pen! Gag!

I have been so successful breeding creams I am now trying to get some Crele's back.

However, I do have problems with melonization...(however that is spelt).

I hadn’t issues with my Legbar hens earlobes turning yellow... I switched their feed and they are back to a beautiful white... I suppose now that they are getting corn again they will turn yellow...

I got my first blue pullet egg from on of my CCLB girl's today! :celebrate
