Creating a cat breed for hunting?

I'll be honest, what you described is pretty much every barn cat ever around South Texas. They're just random mixes. We had a 6 pound female that would kill rabbits, squirrels, mice, rats, snakes, you name it. A hawk attacked her once, and she killed it too. She didn't bother with birds unless they messed with her first, I'll never forget her proudly presenting my mom with a 7 foot rattlesnake. I thought my mom was going to faint.
This cat is a legend do you have a picture? she must of been very strong.

She outdid my bengal lol

Yeah strange none of my killer cats touched my chickens but if they noticed a wild bird with them like a crow or pheasant on the ground flocking they would go after it lol

Just such a nice thought imagine a cat who loved to do nothing but hunt vermin and was territorial attacking small medium sized predators. Then you have your dogs to deal with the rest.

The issue is, what happens when those cats inevitably breed and establish feral colonies? Regular feral cats are bad enough in terms of environmental destruction, we don't need super-predator cats adding to it.
they would have to be spayed or nutered. Before being sold etc.. I do TNnR but here is the thing now that coywolves have a massive population feral cats have almost vanished here. The amount was cut by 75 percent. Coywolves seem to be cat specialists. But a barn or person would only need one or tow and they would get fixed. BUT i mean i am not serious about this just a thought.

The study sounds really narrow in scope, it only addressed feral cats in particular area. Barn cats, that are kept specifically to deal with pest issues, are typically fed and taken care of to an extent and are 'rewarded' for their kills; even though they are allowed to live more wild than others, they are still domestic cats. Feral cats go for the most convenient kill because they are hungry.

There at lots of studies showing how destructive domestic cats can be to bird and small mammals (including rabbits and rats) because they are no longer hunting for sustenance, they are hunting for fun. Look to the issues in New Zealand where domestic cats over hunted native species to the point that cats were towns are trying to ban cats to protect native species.

Here cats do nothing but feed wildlife the coyote population is so huge they live every spot in toronto and outside of it. Going near houses to hunt. They also take a lot of small dogs. Almost all small dogs left alone in yards. Here our wildlife has had to deal with serious predators like bobcats, lynx, wolverine, fisher stoat, all hawks owls falcons ravens herons, snakes coyotes foxes wolves, possem, fishers, martens and it goes on and on so unlike places like australia, before we got here prey species had it a lot harder. Notice ducks will go and lay on school grounds same will killdeer. We took away all the big predators other than coyotes and mink fox. The wild cats that use to roam here dont seem to exist anymore.

I agree places like new zealand. It is horrible what we did to it. Cats are the least of the issues. WE introduced ferrets and stoats there that took out so many birds. We also introduced rats. It is sad what we have done. Here tho doesnt matter what comes it doesnt survive. I have 3 ferrets if they got in the woods they wont last a night. People also introduced mongoose on islands that decimated bird populations. Dogs killed off so many kiwi.

starlings were introduced here, i put up nests for bluebirds and every nest starlings end up distroying. They also even took flickers out of their nest.
