To everyone who is interested,
My concept of auto-sexing is based upon manuscripts I have read concerning the subject. Many of the people who post do not understand the concept.

So here is what Id like to create:
Autosexing
Dual Purpose
Blue Egg Laying
You can not have gold and silver in a cross and in this case both male and female must be gold. Both birds must be gold.

The cream gene is a part of this birds genetic makeup and is there to augment the lighter down color. The cream gene was added to make the bird the an efficient auto-sexing breed.
Tim
No.Auto-sexing fowl are a breed of one variety. The male and female have the same genetic make up. If a person crosses two different breeds or varieties, then the chicks are not autosexing- they could be color sexed and be a sex linked cross but the offspring are not autosexing.
Tim
No."Could you use a Cream Legbar roo x Cuckoo Marans hens and get autosexing?" The answer is no. The chicks are hybrids and not a breed.

An autosexing breed will be easily sexed by the down color of the offspring. There is very little room for error when telling the difference between a male and female. The sexing accuracy level of an autosexing breed should be 100%. A person could get 99% but any lower would be considered semi-autosexing. A novice should be able to tell the difference between a male and female with very little instruction.

Oh Bummer! and I got all excited and all. This forum is not a place for a debate it is a place for ideas. You can debate with others but not me.

hey keep us updated on your progress ok... thanksI know this is an older thread overall but I see some folks are posting here. I planned on making some rhodebar type birds using an ameraucana x barred rock rooster over RIR/buckeye hens but I got a flock of gold EE hens and figure this will be much easier since the EE chicks almost always have striped down compared to the buckeyes and rhode island reds. I was after a basic bigger auto sexing bird, I have legbars which I am working to improve egg production with so I will have more of an egg type autosexing bird, now with these I will have more dual purpose autosexing bird. I figure either way, I'll be producing easter eggers and have a market for the culls
I can sex them at hatch. Much easier than cuckoos.Does anyone know, are golden cuckoo Marans autosexing?
