Creating Experimental Black Crele Chickens (Different Genetics, new variety)

Pics
So cute!!

We were told all those chicks were silkies. We had 8 but one didnt make it. 4 are cochins and 3 are silkies but I have no clue about genetics and varieties or any of that.

I got these because our red rangers were stolen and we needed chickens out there for pest control and helps with the grass too.

I just really got into chickens because I just love all the different colors and breeds you can get. They all have diff personalities. My first set of chickens was june 29th.

And all the ones we got were for free. And most were in a bad living situation. I only bought some because we have too many roosters.

But back to the silkies thing.

Theres on in the bunch thats getting some really cool feathers to and idk if it maybe was crossed.

They look like partridge Silkies.
Here's my SQ, Partridge Silkie

The only thing is he doesnt really have "silky" feathers like the other silkies. I'll try to take a picture to show you what I mean. Maybe they'll go back to that way.
Poorly bred silkies can have shreds in random places upon their bodies instead silkie fluff.
Better picture will help determine my suspicion also. Broiler silkies will have shreds too, but they're primarily white.

Theyre probably poorly bred. I dont think these were from a hatchery. Cause 8 chicks told they were silkies and I am pretty sure 5 were cochins.
I cant remember where the girl that got us all of the ones for free got them from. But a lot were some pretty disgusting places.

Our silkies that are adults were in a one stall garage with 50 other chickens and rabbits and I guess it was horrible smelling.
Theyre poop is pretty strong smelling still.

So, they're rescues?

Wanna see a turkey in a kiddy pool? I have Broad Breasted Bronze Turkeys were raising for ThanksGiving.

I also have some large, & Bantam silkies if you'd like to see them?

Oh, okay. Sounded like they were rescued the way you explained it is all.

We didnt know we were rescuing but they werent the only ones that we basically saved.

Now, even tho they are fenced in, theyre still free ranging in a sense. Plus the silkies have cover for obvious reasons.

I have supposed bantam EE x silkies plus 1 brahma x ee. So yes.

We want to get turkeys next year so I would absolutely love that
