Creating Experimental Black Crele Chickens (Different Genetics, new variety)

No, not really. The thread has become so cluttered with things not relevant to the original purpose of the thread that I've lost track...
Mostly to past the time while feather development continues.

Here he is.

D'Uccles are Booted Bantams. ;)

And there are an abundance of non-show quality Silkies in this thread to compare birds to. So I'd certainly hope that anyone looking could tell what is actually show quality versus pet quality.
My show SQ Silkies I got from a breeder in Ohio.

Got hatching eggs from a breeder, had seven eggs, only three hatched.

I'd do that in another thread created for that purpose versus forcing people to wade through literally pages of posts.

And he looks Crele-esque, but not truly a Crele. It mostly looks to be leakage coming through in his hackles and shoulders. He is a pretty thing though. Looks like he's going to be fairly large, which I'd expect from his parentage.

I'm planning on correcting his coloring, & minor flaws through his offspring when I get to it, & when he's at breeding age. I'm hatching more of the cross so, I can continue this project.

I feel like this has been pointed out before but I'll say it again...

Just because you purchased hatching eggs from a line of Silkies that produces show quality birds, does not mean that you own show quality birds. Unless of course you've taken them to shows and have ribbons to back up your claim that they are show quality. The correct way to describe them is "These are my Silkies from show-quality lines..." If the eggs were purchased online from eBay and you only saw photos of the birds and didn't see them in person, I would doubt they are show quality.

Just earlier today I stumbled across someone on Craiglist selling "Rare and Fancy Chickens" who couldn't spell any of the breed names correctly...

...and to top it all off the picture of the Cochins are my birds on Feathersite that have been long dead for fifteen years. I certainly believe I was misled upon purchasing my first pair of Silver-laced Orpingtons from a breeder who after purchasing later confessed they only bought eggs of eBay and sold the birds they hatched. So they don't have a clue what the birds are genetically, which explains the most recent hatch with at least four or five different colored Orpingtons.

It still won't be Crele. And I imagine that crossing siblings are going to result in a genetic mess. You'll need to hatch a lot of birds to get anything remotely close to what you're looking for. And that will probably be true for many generations.

Want me to post the seller I got them from?
She seems truthful, & I'm planning on showing them.

We'll just have to wait, & see. I know what I'm doing.
