This is terrifying, I don't know how something so invasive and weird would ever be okay. It's not okay, and it's not paranoia to not want it to happen either.

I'd also be worried about what these things do to your eyes and body. Nah, I am not getting it done. Ever. They will have to pry the eyes out of my cold, dead body.

What about my buddy who works with DoD who is blind and cannot open her eyes and her retnas are all scared up (Premature birth, O2 chamber ect)

Well, theoretically that would only be a problem if she committed a crime, was convicted, and thus was forced to join the program. Supposedly any law-abiding citizen will not be required to sign up.

I have been involved in security work for quite a while. It's pretty interesting how the card access badges are encoded and the different types, fingerprint and retina scans have been around for awhile. Camera technology is amazing now, one job we did I demo'd the newly installed camera on the roof of a 2 story building to the customer by zooming in on and watching bugs cross the sidewalk...... and it wasn't even a super high dollar camera.

Uh...in 1965, we had a little piece of technology that could go from a satellite, thru the jungles of South America, down to the resolution of a recognizable face....that's how they kept tabs on Che Guevara.

Technology is technology. It's been there for a long time. It gets cheaper, it gets lighter...but the technology to GATHER the data is nothing. The problem is sorting through all that data and turning it into useful information. That means relating one piece of data to the other. Computers are very stupid, a computer has no idea one little piece of data has any relationship to another, it has to be told about each relationship.

If we were actually good at that, we would never have had 911. We would have had a bunch of guys in jail for a long, long time, and the twin towers would still be up there.

We aren't good at using the data we can gather or putting it together so it tells us something useful. What is being done so far, is, ah, it's pitiful.
