Burial for me. The thought of cremation is just...creepy. Plus I find solace in a grave to visit the loved one who died. With cremation, often times there is no grave to visit, and I find it harder to grieve and move on.

I really don't like the idea of cremation.

I will be buried quickly. No embalming. This vault(required) and casket(simple) will both have holes to allow me to actually decay. No funeral, no wake, just plant me and leave me alone. No one ever gave a crap while I was alive why would I want them to "fake" mourning me.

I say cremation. Told dh to pop me in body bag and drive me over to the oven.Ofcourse he would need a permit to transport me,but I don't think that is a big deal. My mom and I were talking one time and she told me to cremate and spread her ashes over a lake,"Oh no wait not the lake" she says, " I can't swim." We still have a good laugh over that.

Given the big business with the dead I am not wanting to go into any place that can harvest my body parts.I have read plenty on that topic, and don't want that to occur to me or loved ones. I also recall the cost and uncaring letters my mom got when my stepdad died.It is just not worth the expense.

I also do not want my ashes in the ground or in a dead house.I told dh the other day he can put me in a yard with a tree,or in a closet. No need to put me on the mantel in the living room.

Even though we all know it can happen I find family and friends get a big freaky over death issues when I bring it up.No one wants to seriously plan for what happens after, and then I am left deciding.I try to make lite of it but it is a hard subject for many.Money is really not a big issue, but I see no reason to go through the funeral process that is typical these days.Funny thing is I was always interested in working on a funeral home!

DH has decided he wants to be cremated and put in an hour glass...He figures if he dies anytime soon, it will probably be in a fire, so he'll be half-cooked anyway.

Funny story: When DH's dad died unexpectedly a few years ago, they were discussing cremation, and DH said it was ok with him as long as he got a leg. So when they went to pick up FIL's ashes the funeral home had a separate smaller box of ashes with a label that said "Leg" for DH. Oi....he has a weird sense of humor, but his father would have cracked up laughing.
