My
brother in law has gout severely and has found great relief using Cherry juice.
I included the link, its well worth the try, even though it doesnt work for everyone maybe it can help give you a little relief with out heavy meds.

Good luck and Prayers go out to you. the pain you are experiencing is no joy thats for sure.

It is hard to cope when you can't use your hands. My husband had an accident seveal years ago and lost 3 of the fingers on his left hand. He has limited use of his hand and constant pain. I had to quit work so that I could do the things such as cook dinner for the family. He can't hold a pan handle in one hand and stir with the other, or hold a plat and dish out food. He can't cut up his own food either. I tell you all of this because I'm offering hope that those around you will see your need for help and step up to do so. We don't want to see the ones we love suffer or struggle and we try to make sacrifices to help how we can. I hope your family can help around the farm and with meals and take some of the burden off of you.

If you absolutely have to cook...maybe you could roast something. Put it in the oven for a few hours and let it cook on it's own with no turning, flipping or stirring. And if it is a large roast or something, hopefully there will be leftovers so you don't have to cook the next night or even for a few days. And invest in an elctric knife, let the knif do the work for you when you need something carved.
That is all the advice I have, I all have left is prayers to offer

I am so sorry to hear you're going through this. My hands have not gotten to that level, but I have battled carpal tunnel and tendonitis for years and occasionally have arthritic pain. I see someone has already recommended braces and hot wax. I would definitely wear the braces every single night on both wrists, and would buy the longer braces, not the ones that end right above the hand.

I noticed around Christmas that my hands were worse and I think this may have been because of a higher sugar intake. I use a supplement called SAM-e which I think helps me somewhat; I can really tell a difference if I stop taking it.

I hope you will recover completely!

I'm in the same boat as you.....have been for a long time. I don't have insurance that will cover anything so I haven't been to a doctor to get a diagnosis so I just suck it up and keep going. I drop stuff frequently because all of a sudden my thumbs quit working......not good when it's a glass of water. Over time I've adapted how I do my daily farm chores whether it's carrying water to my chickens, feeding cattle or driving the tractor.

My only thought is to make a "yoke" thingie to help with hauling buckets for chicken chores. Some sort of pole with a chain/rope on either end. You could then carry the weight on your shoulders and not your hands. Usually our legs and shoulders are stronger anyway. Dunno. Just a thought. It might enable you to keep doing the chicken chores longer.

I'm so sorry your hands are hurting.

Arthritius is an autoimmune problem, like an allergy.
you might get some relief if you reserch the most common foods that cause allergic reactions and cut them completely from your diet.

The most common is milk. Humans after the age of 3 or 4 aren't designed to have the massive amounts of dairy we do today.
switch to goat milk, soy, or something else.

I have RA, and am on two medications for it (Plaquenil & Celebrex). They don't do me much good & the side-effects are horrible. Momma recently read something online about drinking black cherry juice to relieve the pain of arthritis. I haven't tried it yet, but I will soon.

I just found an article on it (not the same one momma read, but close).

Good luck and I hope everything works out for you!

I have RA and when the pain gets bad, I use those heated hand wraps that you buy at the supermarket.
They are spendy, but the heat pads go right on top of the joints.

Besides the antirheumatics, I take naproxen twice daily for pain control maintenance, but sometimes vicodin and bed is all that will help.
