I was going to make some tonight.... but we have run out of chicken... and neither of us realized. Hmmpf. I felt like chicken too. And I actually have time tonight. I wonder if I can send mom to the grocery store......

I LOVE fried chicken, but have never mastered it. There's a place near me called Harvest Chicken that makes the best ever and is priced reasonably. We go there a couple of times a month. I was always a great fan of shake n bake when my kids were at home. HOWEVER, now that you made it sound so simple and delicious

, I will try one more time using your method and would love to see pictures next time you do it.

Do have a look at Tyler Florence's Ultimate Fried Chicken, it's brined, he uses buttermilk and his mixture of seasonings is awesome. It was an episode of Tyler's Ultimate and it looked real doggone good...

I stopped trying to make fried chicken because I could never get the crispy part to stay on the chicken, or crispy enough, etc. Your tips have made this now a fried chicken eating household!!! I may be a little angry if it causes me to buy a bigger pants size, though. Heh heh heh. My own ideas for next time would be to season the flour more and to make strips. I ended up buying some legs (with skin) and boneless, skinless thighs. I decided to do this last minute when we were in the grocery store, otherwise I would have used the home grown chicken I have in the freezer. As much as I am trying to buy meat from local farmers - something came over me today and I NEEDED FRIED CHICKEN! I saw this post the other day, and I think that's what did it!
