Crochet "Chat"

Quick question...has anyone here ever tried crocheting shoes? Like...house shoes. Lol. If so, any advice? XD I bought this hugely thick gloriously soft yarn that's almost rope, and was gonna make a scarf. I got some crochet'd and then realized that my scarf was so think it'd be more like a neck brace LOL! A fabulously soft, cushy, warm neck brace, but a neck brace nevertheless! So I pulled it all and am attempting house shoes.

I don't know how to work with crochet patterns and was only ever taught one "stitch", and everything I can do is a variation on that, but I'm pretty good at rigging things, so...you know. I'll be doing it either way, but I'm starting with the sole and working out and up. I'll post a picture when I'm finished, but I don't anticipate it being TOO difficult--but then, this is only the fourth thing I've ever crochet'ed and I know nothing about what I'm doing. I was hoping for a bit of advice?

There are tons out there.

Thank you for the reply! The reason I did not ask for patterns is because I don't actually know how to read the patterns. I've never been taught to, but I also am terrible understanding sewing patterns too--so it might be me. I did look through those patterns, but it's Greek to me. Thanks anyways! I'll keep working as I have been, as it appears to be working decently well so far.

The pictures will probably be more help than the patterns themselves. Just look at the pics for general guidance then.

Anyone know how to make some really cute baby booties that I could swap something for or pay for if not too expensive? I am too busy working on my blanket to teach myself but thought it would be so sweet to have some for my baby that is going to be here in 8 weeks.

Aww, congratulations!!! Girl or boy?

Sorry, but I'm no help, lol. Saw it and thought I'd squee over the newborn baby!!

As for my 'project', I've got the sole of my slipper/shoe/whatever done and am working up the sides. I got the heel and toe to curve right, so it does look like the beginnings of a shoe, lol. I now just get to go around and around until it actually becomes a shoe. I'm thinking about doing a little tongue and simple ties to make it adjustable around the ankle.
