Bleenie: what a beautiful blanket! the pattern looks so neat when the squares are all put together. What is your method for joining the squares? that is the hardest part for me. How do you get it to lay so flat without ridges?

I join as i go...

I made the colored part of the squares first, then added the white and joined them as i added the white round. I put them back to back so when i do the Ch1 space between clusters I can work the stitch around the square on the back(in the ch1 space on it). Since they're only attached in a few spots on each side they have plenty of room to lay flat.

In the corners I did a Ch2 space so I just attach 1ch through the corner of the back square and then turn it(if needed) and attach 2nd ch to the corner of the next square.

Here's a couple pictures so maybe you can see how i did it in case you couldn't understand how i explained it, lol. (click to enlarge)

Thank you Kim! That's so sweet! I was so excited when I saw the award icon. I have met some amazing folks here on BYC and made some very good friends in my local area off of this thread too. It was a huge honor to get the award. The avatar pic is of me and my new puppy Samson. He is 9 months in the pic but is almost 10 months now.

My most recent one:
The pink is darker than it looks in the pic. It wasn't done at the time.

Beautiful blankets, Everyone! I just started crocheting blankets this past year, but so far I've only attempted solid colors. I'm afraid of the joining part.....What if I get it all wonky......

You are sooo welcome!!! You deserve it!!!! Samson is handsome and looks like he is going to be big. Is he a German Shepard? My Dh & DD surprised me w/ a Siberian Husky puppy in Feb we named Harper. Boy was she a "surprise", but I love her! They were told she was 4 months old, but when I took her to the vet our vet told us she was more like only 6 or 7 weeks old. LOL!! I guess she is a little over 8 months old now, but who knows since she was a rescue from breeders (puppy mill type place).

I'm sure I'll be referring back to it if I ever decide to join my huge bags of squares.

Wow Angela! You've been busy!!

I love that crochet is so much faster than knitting ... but I love my knitting also!

So ... what number are we up to in the swap?? 14? 15? 16? 17????? I need to know as I've finished my first GS and starting on a second set. If'n I don't get an answer soon (and I don't start on a couple pair of knitted socks Knit A Longs), I may have to start a 3rd set.

Just can't keep my fingers from doing some fiber arts. Then again ... my yarn stash is getting low so I really need to spin some more.

I'm actually up to #12 in the second set.

I should try to set up a video of spinning. Will just need to be sure the camera's battery is charged up and the doohickey-SD thinger is empty. (Can't tell I'm 50-something, eh?!)
