Crochet "Chat"

Okay, I've been crocheting for a few years but all basic stuff that didn't require reading a pattern. The last year I've been using patterns and have done pretty good with it. I am making a baby afghan (mile a minute type) and am completely stuck on a direction. It's probably very simple, but I'm not wrapping my brain around it. Directions say to " join new color with sc in second slip st. to right of joining" It's the last color and round of the strip.
look at where you joined/fastenoff your last color, then count 2 stitches to the right of the join/fasten off and SC your new color/yarn to that 2nd stitch

Finished my first mobius scarf/cowl. It's about a foot wide and very thick because I did it with 2 strands of yarn held together. I think I'll do more of these, maybe less wide and longer, but check it out, folks. How do you like this?

That is beautiful! I'm gonna have to make one for my mom for Christmas. She would LOVE it!!

Thank you! It should be very warm, to wear over a jacket or even just a sweatshirt to sub for a heavy coat when you need your arms freer.

Here is a picture tutorial on how to join the ends to get the twist when you sew the ends of the scarf together:

I just did this one with some Red Heart Super Saver in Light Sage and Frosty Green Fleck combined, but done in a softer yarn would be heavenly, I think. Or just use a chunky variegated color yarn.

ETA: Also, just completed my Sweet Scallops Shawl. I love the pattern. It's about 18" x 72".

So, yesterday my 18 yr old step daughter & her 18 month old baby moved out!! As awful as this sounds.... YAY!!!!!!
My 11, 12, & 13 yr olds start school Friday, & my 19 yr old step daughter sleeps all day and works at night.
Which means.... I'm going to have time and space and the mental capacity to crochet again!!!!!!!!! Whooohooooo!!!!!

Great! Thanks!! What yarn did u use for the sweet scallops shawl? I made my mom one for Mother's Day, but it just called for worsted weight. Yours looks like it was done in a lighter yarn and I like it way better!!!

No, it is worsted weight #4. I used Red Heart "Soft" yarn, not the Super Saver, in the Rose Blush color. The side borders are Bernat Satin yarn in Antique Rose, an almost perfect match for the Rose Blush, since I didn't quite have enough of the RH Soft to do the entire long sides. When I ordered them both, didn't realize they were so darn close in color and sheen, but it is lucky that they were!

Quote: Yea for you!!! Get out those hooks!

Another soft nice yarn is the red heart with love, and they have some great colors in it too. Easy to crochet it doesn't split like some of the soft yarns do while you are crocheting (at least not as bad)

Yep, used that, too, and I agree, though it doesn't have the sheen of the RH Soft. I used some of the With Love in my Never Ending Granny afghan I made.

ETA: I just started a sparkly holiday scarf with Caron Simply Soft Party Yarn in Silver Sparkle. It's amazing how it does NOT split like the regular Simply Soft does, probably due to the metallic strands that wrap the yarn. It's also extra soft, too. I'm surprised. First time I've ever tried it and I'm sold.

Speckledhen, I love that mobius scarf & really like the way the two strands look worked together!

I've been pretty slow with the crocheting lately, been really nice here lately so lots of outside stuff to do! I was wondering though, was anyone thinking of doing a Fall Granny Square Swap?
