I still find wool easier to work with than acrylic because acrylic tends to "stick" to the hook. Maybe that's just because my tension is too tight. Way too tight.

I like both, but I prefer a mix. I don't like the texture of acrylic much, it's just a little too artificial for me. And wool by itself is super scratchy.

Totally agree. I'd rather have pure wool next to my skin than acrylic. Some of those blends are quite nice. Silk is also wonderful but in my opinion best by itself. Very hard to sew with also.

My DH has the top one on his bed right now and I've been working on one in yellow and orange for my GirlChild. I just love this pattern. Thank you for the instructions, I needed the counts!

The guinea pigs were made with my handspun yarn, which is very coarse and thick, as I'm not that good at spinning yet. As such, it doesn't work too well for most projects, but it's perfect for guinea pigs. I made four of them as Christmas presents.
This is a shawl I made with self-striping yarn, which turned out really nicely.

And my latest project, a crochet hat made to look knitted. It's worked entirely in BLO slip stitches, which took forever, but I love the stitching.

And that's all! I'm currently working on a set of fingerless gloves to match the hat, but those aren't coming along very fast...

Abby, I'm super impressed! You don't know how blessed you are to be learning these skills, they are among the "dying arts". Few people know how to do these things and I hope someday you teach a class in them or pass them on to your own kids! ā¤ļø

Thank you! I agree, more people need to know how to do stuff like this. Every time I see my grandma, I'm amazed at how much she knows, and not just about spinning, but practically everything. She knows a lot about plants and herbs, and natural remedies. It's sad that after she passes, most of what she knows will be lost. I would love to just soak up everything she can teach me, but unfortunately, she lives too far away for me to really do that.

Sorry, that got kinda off topic, but I've just been thinking about that lately. :p

Pick her brain as much as you can, any way you can. Can she do video chats? Interview her, ask questions, take notes, record her. Try not to let her knowledge get lost. Find out what her life was like as a little girl, a young woman. Ask about wars she remembers, the Depression, her first car, how she met her husband. What it was like raising kids in her day. Some day she won 't be able to answer these questions and it will be too late.
