Crockpot Incubator Saga III: Shipped Quails Eggs...?!

Pics
I almost lost this one today 😅 When I opened the top to their garden box enclosure, one of them “popped” out, and two others followed. One stayed right by my feet and the other hid in the veggie garden, so I retrieved those two easily. This grey one though, was no where to be seen. Looked all over the area for him... only to find him right next to the garden box hiding in the tangles of a hairy vetch when I had all but given up. A bit of an early morning adventure.

I hate whenever my chicks or even my grown chickens run out of the run. One time my white faced black spanish chick escaped out of the run when my older sister opened the door. My brother and the dog(who will attempt to eat birds if you let her) were out there too. So when she ran out my sister picked her up and Penny(the chicken) started freaking out. So Daisy(the dog) tried to eat her of course.🤦‍♀️ And this all happened when I was inside of the chicken house so my older sister had to deal with it all.

I'm glad that you got him back though!😁

One of my cats is an avid hunter and would have probably gotten him if he stayed out. The cats leave chicks and chickens alone though, sometimes they will chase the chickens just for an adrenaline rush? but would never hunt them. However I’m not quite whether the quails made their “no kill” list. lol

They weren’t exaggerating when they said quails are obsessed with dust baths. I dried some dirt and made a small dust bath for the quails today. it look no more than 30 seconds for them to jump in there and start fluffing around in the dirt.
There weren’t much dirt left in the box when they were done, lol

That's so cute! :love My chickens are big on dust baths. But my turkeys take one every like two weeks.🤦‍♀️
