As a person with little in person chicken experience, I feel like it would be extremely beneficial to know what an empty crop looks like, what a full crop looks like, and even what sick crops may look like so that I may be able to observe this in my future flocks with better accuracy.

Please, make this thread image heavy as possible with as many tips as you can think of-- the more references the better! :)

Are graphic pictures okay?

Any pictures of where to feel? Also I've heard of instances where birds have had visibly full crops.

While @casportpony digs out their graphics, here is where you can find the crop. The crop is found at the base of the neck where you can sometimes feel the contents whether they are food, grit or water.

I’ll see if I can get some pics of my little piggies after they’ve chowed down for you. They aren’t eating as much because of an emergency feed substitution, but they can get fairly pronouced bulges.

Here’s one of my Sapphire boys at about 3-4 weeks with a pretty full crop. It’s the chest lump on the left side of the photo...

Oh I see it!! That's pretty significant-- must've really been enjoying his substitute. His eyes are also rather gorgeous, might I say! I've never seen a chicken with blue eyes like that before...
