Crop problems- looking for help

lol, I know... there are so many differing opinions! I tended to lean toward what the majority of people advised. I gave my girl acv water and probiotics at the same time and she is just fine. Infact, I always have acv water out for all my girls.

I think whoever told you that is probably thinking that because the acv water kills bacteria, it would most likely kill the good bacteria from the yogurt and therefore be useless. I have to admit, I did have that thought. Not sure what the science actually is and whether or not one would really effect the other. Seems like a good BYC forum topic!

You could save yourself a lot of work by getting some Crop Bound Capsules they run about $5.00 for 25 capsules. The people that I'v talked to said that they are excellent and you see improvements with in a day.

I had a hen with an impacted crop to a point where we had to do surgery. The culprit was a collection of Willow tree leaves.

Help!! I think I've may have made an issue that was getting better, worse! I was massaging her crop and I think she may have aspirated some of the contents coming back up!

Well its been over an hour and she seems to be okay for the most part. She had her beak open ans was sneezing for a bit but stopped and hasnt been doing it since.. She has been sluggish but not lethargic.. I gave her a heat and she was as close as should get. (Even though we're in Florida and its 80 inside the house!) Shes not wheezing now and her breathing seems ok. Shes still drinking by choice and is on a perch.. I think I may bring her to a vet. I finally found one that will see her! Hoping its not too late though..

Brought BeBe to the vet.. They emptied her crop and gave her some Baytril in her crop and me some to give to her daily.. She is acting more alert and wants to eat! Vet said to fed very little at a time. She didnt have any more problems breathing so hopefully the antibiotics work!

Thanks for the help.. I dont think she aspirated anything that was good, but she is thin so we arent out of the woods yet. Her crop was way down this morning though so I'm hopeful its getting better. I gave her a little applesauce (unsweeted) with a bit of baby food meat mixed in this morning with her ACV water. The vet said to limit her food and water so the crop just doesnt fill right back up. So I'm glad I'm off work so I can tend to her feeding many times a little at a time. She's been calling for me to feed her or pick her up - shes spoiled now! lol Again, thanks for the help! Hope everything stays well
