Cross beak not eating like normal after beak trim.

She’s chowing down this morning!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
That's so good to hear!!
So my question is…because she has to have her beak trimmed…do I just do it at night right before bed so she has time to rest overnight and should be ready to eat again the next morning?
That would probably be good just in case this happens again!

Glad she's eating today.

I know some folks do have to trim the crossbeak so the bird can eat. Maybe you can trim more frequently so you don't have to trim so much at a time or even try lightly filing and shaping the beak every week or so just to keep it in shape so you don't have to trim.
Great idea! Thank you ☺️

Trimming it more often should also prevent the quick from moving closer to the end of the beak. It will also get her more used to it.
I guess the color of the beak isn’t an indicator of where the quick starts? I didn’t clip the dark part of her beak so I’m not sure exactly where the quick starts

If the beak is light enough to see through (or partially see through, at least at the tip), you don't want to trim through or near the triangle of opaque that takes up most of in the center from a top down view.
