Crossing my Red Ranger Hens.

Pics
I was out painting the outside of the new coop and had the pleasure of seeing my Red Ranger hen lay her first egg. She's 20 weeks old. It was a decently sized egg. It was funny watching her. She suddenly sprinted in from the yard into the coop and then stood pondering the nest boxes for a while. She got it figured out and then she, my rooster and one of the 18 week old pullets had a good egg song together.

I love that story. I can't remember exactly when my Red Rangers started laying but the mixes laid around week 19.

Weigh in tomorrow... 11 weeks. the CX. They are actually starting to feel meaty now. Depending on how much they weigh I may cut back on Rations. Although they are CX and if they are just starting to feel meaty at age 11 weeks then maybe its all good as it is. They are mobile and climb the hill to get feed like its not even there. Although they do sit around a little bit they are fairly active.

I thought that you were keeping them on a diet so that you could breed them with your other breed's.

Video of the 11 week old CX, I weighed them yesterday but forgot to write down the weights. Its not important I just need to know they are not getting too large. This video is a better way to tell they are healthy and not overweight

Looking good, so far! I wonder how old they will be at this rate before they start laying egg's?

I have seen people post the ages their started laying in other threads. Its under 20 weeks.

When ever I see them they are up against the fence staring at me hoping I am bring them feed so it was nice to see how fast and Agile they were when they weren't running to me in an attempt to get food.

I hope that you post a picture of the egg's when they start laying. I wonder what color that they do lay.
