Crossing my Red Ranger Hens.

Thanks for the comparison photo. I'm looking forward to your review of the taste. My husband isn't sure he could eat it View attachment 1908324
it doesn't look very appetizing to me either but I want to know what it takes like, if that coloring has an effect on flavor. Although it can not be seen in the picture the inner thighs are seem to have a Muscle or 2 that are dark black. I might be separating the thighs later today and I will take a picture of them before I give them away.

Here are the 2 Dorking/Red Rangers that I've got. The first chick had the black stripe, has a short tail and some white coming in on the wings. The second had a brown stripe, has a longer tail and little to no white on the wings. They'll be 3 weeks old tomorrow.

:gigThat's what I told him...he looked doubtful. Said it looks like it was a zombie
Yeah it's phycological.
I would bring my lunch to work and my friend the cashier would like to try my food. One day she had eaten about half of my stew and said she would get me something from the line But what was the meat. She said it wasn't pork or beef. .. I told her it was Bambi...she spit out what was in her mouth and I thought the rest was going to follow. :gig:gig:gig
She thought it was great until she knew what it was. She said if I had said deer it wouldn't have been as bad.
For some reason she quit asking to taste my food :lau

That dark meat could become a Halloween favorite!

I forgot to add, the NN cross looks very similar to my NN keeper rooster. Almost the same coloring. The loser NN in my two-roo contest is going to be processed tomorrow. Loser-roo was 4.8 lbs when I weighed him a couple of days ago. I'm really hoping for over 3 lbs dressed weight.
The 15 week old NN too was processed this morning. He just eked out over 3 lbs dressed (3.05 lbs). A little disappointed, as the dorkings last year were heavier at 14 weeks, but then again, this was definitely the smaller and scrawnier of the two NN roos. He was somewhat easier to butcher and pluck due to less feathers. Going to rest him 3 days in the fridge and then it's roast chicken night.

Are you my long lost sister? My daughter told her kindergarten class she ate the Easter Bunny over Spring break after she tried rabbit for the first time. She thought it was hilarious, I got a phone call that she had traumatized some of the other kids

I processed one at 20 weeks that was only a pound heavier dressed. The boys we processed earlier had less meat on their frames in general.

Do you have a pen you could put bachelors in so they can have a bit more time to gain weight? I'm thinking about adding one more pen to my yard for this specifically.
