I was a firemen an part of the EMS system for 13 years. I have also seen the other side of a jail cell door many times. If I was cop bashing you would know. I have stories. I do try to be an equal opportunity basher though.
There is good an bad in any job, cops just effect our lives more than most jobs. A good cop is one that did his job right an is not remembered for it. A bad cop is doing something that makes people remember them. There is not many bad cops, they are just remembered more.
well said. I have had the opportunity to work with, and socialize with many officers both good and bad, and
I will stand up to a bad cop just as I will stand up to any average joe schmo. Just because they have a uniform doesn't mean they should be above criticism. It is what has earned me cop friends because I speak my mind. I don't treat them any different. I see them as fellow human beings with flaws and good characteristics like any other person out there.
I think the OP did a good thing standing up to the officer for nearly hitting her on the cross walk. Just because the officer is wearing a uniform does not mean the officer is above criticism. In fact the officer is held to a higher standard.
I'm quoting your whole post here, to be sure I don't leave anything out that you think I'm purposely ignoring.
We're assuming now that the cop is a BAD cop because of one incident told from one point of view (the OPs)? Except in rare instances of total wack-jobs, no one intentionally tries to run someone down (there was the time when I considered it would be best to put my ex down that way, but that's a whole 'nother story
). So until and unless that law enforcement officer comes on BYC and posts her side of the story, I don't think we can assume that the LEO was in the wrong and start bashing her for it.
