Cruel people/ dumped kittens

That beautiful poem reminds me of something that happened to us. We stopped at a stop sign in a very small town at a very busy intersection(2 highways coming together). I noticed that every car that stopped at the sign had a small dog that would run to it's door and sit and wag his little tail. Then they would drive off and he would run back to the shoulder and wait for the next car. Well I of course opened my car door when I got to the stop sign and the little guy (later named Bob for Bob the Builder) jumped right into my car and landed on my lap. He was just waiting for who ever dumped him to come back and get him. I felt so sorry for him. I rehomed him. He was so smart. Did all sorts of tricks. House broke! And could walk on his hind legs all over the house without falling. I think he would have died if I hadn't picked him up. Hot day on hot pavement. No water in sight. Poor little guy.

I tried to place warm milk in a saucer, they have no interest in it. I stop by the animal shelter this morning and they gave me antibiotic ointment for their eye's. I told them about the one. They said that if it was blind they will put him to sleep.

This is such ha cute little guy, and it hurts me to think any kind of baby being killed. I told them I wasn't to sure and I would treat him for a few days to see if maybe by some miracle he isnt blind. Unfortunatley I dont see how it will come back from the blind though. I have been feeding them every 3 hours which was what the vet told me. I am ready to go hunting and find this guy and dump him off some where in a plastic sack in our 99 degree heat and see how he like it. All these kiitens had a good mamma, they werent a bit starved, and are rather fat little guys, I think I am going to skip over the pound and try and find a suitable home for these guys my self. I honestly can't imagine handing over the blind one to be taken to his death. And I know that maybe thats what should be done, but I cant after sitting here off and on all night last night working in these little guys, just turn my back and allow them to be put down. I am going to do everything I can for them right now. I just cant make any promises that I wont have to have them put down the blind one. The animal control said they have tried to save blind kittens and puppies before and once they were of a age they could be adopted no one would take them, so they now just put them down instead of try and fail. Which quite honestly is what I am scared is going to happen with this guy.

Please don't get discouraged. Many years ago I rescued a tiger barn kitten with the same problem. The vet wasn't sure that he would ever be able to see. Well, as time went on, he was able to see. One eye always had some discoloration, however.

He turned out to be the sweetest cat I ever owned.

I named him Captain Bligh. "CB" for short.

Tell me about stupid mean people we have had oh about 30 kittens at the clinic i work for these past 3 mos. i do all of the fostering. Distemper panleukopenia, in a cat is cat parvo which can attack silently and quickly. for example vomiting, diarrhea just not doing well my experience even with treatment is probably 90% fatal esp in young kittens <8wks old. The upper resp signs are usually a calciavirus in young kittens it can be fatal esp if they stop eating and drinking often times it can be a secondary disease of distemper or feline leukemia virus.

The best treatment for ill kittens depending on how bad is warmth, fluids, vitamin B complex, antibiotics, make sure they are wormed and treat any secondary infections.

Best of luck and bless everyones heart who helps any abandoned animal. It hard work and if you do it enough severe burnout.

I wish you much luck. I would love to have your little blind kitty but I am in NC and that is a long way to go! We recently had to put down my DH's first cat due to cancer and she was blind. But she ruled the roost here and was the most loving cat I have ever met. Being blind did nothing to stop her from being a great pet. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

There is no way I would survive if he thought I would even consider keeping one. So any one interested let me know.

The eye infections are clearing up now, and I am maybe starting to see some blue around the blind kittens eye, instead of silver.I am not getting my hopes up on him though. They are finally taking to the bottle now. I tried them on a saucer of milk formula, and they still have no interest in it. The two kittens that can see are doing great and are pretty healthy now. The tortise shell tiger stripped one ( which is a female) is really getting fattend up, and not one bit of goop around her eyes. Then the other gray and white kitten is also fattening up and is really getting cute. I think this ones a female also, ( but I forgot) She has really neat hair it is cottony, and is kind of kinky or curly. I havevnt ever seen a cat with this kind of hair. The blind one is a male and his hair is also really curly, and it looks like it might end up being shorter than the one females. I have been keeping them in a buffle bag looking pet carrier and it keeps them warm and the bottom of it is padded with a quilted looking bottom. If I dont keep it zipped up the one that is blind climbs out. I think that either he isnt blind, or his other senses are really good because he is the only one that climbs out. The other two just stay put and hide out . It is really to bad I cant afford to keep them all because they really are going to be beautiful cats. But like I said above I already have to many cats. And every single one of them cant go to the bathroom outside. They have to beg to get in and then they go and us a litter box and as soon as they are done they want back out side. Its like the dirt outside isnt good enough, or they are scared someone might see them pooping or something. But man I have to clean the litter box everyday and replace it once a week to keep odors down. There is no way I could handle three more cats. My DH keeps asking me when I am supposed to take them to the shelter, and he is scared to death I might decide we need to keep them. I just hope that the ones eyes clear up, and then they all get adopted out.

Have you tried calling any vets in your area? They will sometimes foster animals. I found a baby squirrel back in march. It was only a few weeks old and I had no idea how to feed it. I called my local vet and one of the girls there already was taking care of a baby squirrel and said she would take that one too. If not they may have a number to someone in the area that fosters animals and could give you the number. Or your local pet store maybe able to give you numbers to foster people. Hope they find a home soon they are so cute.
